After a disappointing first episode of its third season, HBO’s “Dexter” and it’s titular protagonist, if a mass murderer could be called such, are back in fine form.

The second episode takes the the outline provided in the preceeding epsiode and adds a perfectly nuanced portrait of the dichotomous Dexter.  Scenes that highlight his insecurity with mimicking normal human emotions during interpersonal communication are contrasted with those that underline his cold self-assuredness as an inhuman predator.

The last sequence forced a bloody blend of the two juxtaposed positions and promises for more of the same murderous mahem in the near future.
